About Walking Tours
History Live invites you to discover the secrets of the Royal Burgh. These tours offer a unique mix of comedy, history and storytelling with local guides.
The guides will take you on a sightseeing tour through the curious nooks and crannies of the Burgh, revealing some of Stirling's strangest tales. Hear how the Tolbooth Prison became famed as ‘the worst gaol in Britain’, of the magical curse placed upon Mar’s Wark by the fiery Abbot of Cambuskenneth, and all manner of mayhem, mischief and mystery. Walk through the oldest arcade in Europe and learn of it’s secret hidden theatre.
The tours will depart on the hour every hour from 10am. Last tour departs at 1pm. The tours will start at the Engine Shed, Stirling’s newest jewel, and end up at the castle – Stirling’s oldest treasure.
If you want to stop off en route and visit one of the many attractions on offer during the History Live weekend, then please do, and simply hop on the next tour walking past to continue your journey.
Parking will be available at the Engine Shed.
