During the early 19th century Scotland came to dominate the cast iron industry in Britain and Falkirk was key to this story. This new exhibition gives an insight into the role of iron in Falkirk, from the mighty Carron Company, whose invention helped win the Battle of Trafalgar, to foundries making everything from ships engines to cooking pots. It is a story of metal, sweat and hard work, of social change and the fickleness of fashion. Illustrated with images and objects showing the types of products being made locally and how they were made, this exhibition will appeal to young and old.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Fe Iron: The Falkirk Story are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
