Andrew Carnegie: A Century On

About Andrew Carnegie: A Century On

Andrew Carnegie’s inspirational life story is well known throughout Scotland and beyond. Carnegie helped fund the building of The National Wallace Monument and donated the first bust – of Robert Burns - to the Hall of Heroes gallery.

The centennial of the death of Andrew Carnegie:
Andrew Carnegie went from working in a cotton factory aged 12 to become one of the richest men in the world in his lifetime. Carnegie devoted much of his life to philanthropy, he funded a large number of libraries and educational establishments in the US, Scotland and elsewhere. In total, it is believed that Carnegie gave away over three hundred and fifty million dollars before his death on 11th August 1919.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Andrew Carnegie: A Century On are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
