About Sewing Techniques: Collars & Welts

We are thrilled to welcoming Jen Hogg, semi-finalist on this year’s Great British Sewing Bee back to F&M to teach this 2 hour workshop. (class booking is via Jen’s website – please see details at the end of this listing).

Jen will share expert tips on how to sew perfect collars and welts. You’ll sew a sample collar in cotton or linen, as well as in wool. You’ll make a sample welted pocket, and if we have time a welted buttonhole. These are the techniques which lift your sewing to a new level, giving your garments a professional finish. The class is limited to 6 people.

What the class will cover:
Pocket welt
Shirt collar
Wool coat collar
Bound buttonhole
All subject to time

What’s included:
All of the fabric and interfacing required plus contrasting thread
Tea and biscuits!

What you’ll need to bring:
Your sewing kit – scissors, hand sewing needles, pins etc
Notebook & pencil
If you want to bring your own machine, please contact me.

NOTE:
This is an intermediate to advanced class, it is not suitable for beginners.
You must have sewing experience under your belt i.e. following accurate seam allowances, handling fabric, basic experience cutting from a pattern.

This class is suitable for adults only. Minimum age 16

COST:
£39 for this workshop, or if you want to come along to the workshop on zips on the same day, £69 for both.
