Learn baby signing the fun way with Sing and Sign

What is baby signing?
Babies use all kinds of signs and gestures as a natural part of learning to talk. Encouraging your baby with signs such as milk, more, change nappy or tired can make a significant difference in your baby’s ability to communicate. You can lessen frustration, enrich language learning and have a lot of fun with it too.

Baby signing with Sing and Sign is wonderfully rewarding. Your baby will recognise important words sooner and can use the signs to “talk” to you before speech. You will be amazed by what your baby is capable of telling you before being able to talk!

How does Sing and Sign teach these baby signs?
Everyone knows nursery rhymes and action songs are great fun and musical activities help stimulate language development. Sing and Sign combines the benefits of both music and baby signing. We teach a wide range of signs using some traditional and some specially written or adapted songs. What makes Sing and Sign special is that every sign used in song relates to those important first words of a baby's world! Nappies and bath time, hiding games and bedtime. You name it, we have a song about it, and the babies just love to hear them! With a high standard of educational content, this is a relaxing, enjoyable and unpressured way for you and your baby to learn.

There are three stages of classes to suit all babies from around 2 months to 2 years

‘Babes’ - approx 2 – 6 months old.
This is a lovely gentle music and sensory class, which aims to build the foundations for good communication. The class is relaxed, giving you lots of time face to face with your wee one, enjoying plenty of cuddles and is the perfect place to begin your baby signing journey.

‘Stage 1’ – approx. 6 – 14 months old.
We cover lots of different themes relating to your babies world, eg: animals, vehicles, bath time and bed time. This is all learned through songs, rhymes, instruments, toys and props in a fun, relaxed class. Babies love the fun and the music while mums and dads effortlessly learn all the signs they need for day-to-day life with their baby.

‘Stage 2’ - approx 14 – 24 months old.
A more interactive class for toddlers covering themes such as colours, different food that they like, manners, using the potty and the beginning of phonics! It is designed with inquisitive and energetic toddlers in mind with lots of activities to keep them busy.

Although there are benefits to progressing through the various “stages”, you do not have to complete Stage 1 before attending Stage 2.

Classes for all stages are in the Dunblane Centre, Dunblane on Thursdays
