About A Nation of Stone
Visit our exhibition that looks at our nation of stone, and learn about who is preserving this distinct and varied heritage for future generations.
Take a look under the microscope and see what's really going on inside stone sites like Melrose Abbey, with our conservation scientists. Find out how our stone conservators rescued one of the most important collections of medieval carved stone - Iona Abbey's towering celtic crosses that marked the original pilgrimage route.
Learn about Doune Castle's extensive conservation work from the District Works Manager, and how we use traditional skills, methods and materials to conserve and protect our built heritage.
