The SAY Award: Live at the Longlist 2020

About The SAY Award: Live at the Longlist 2020

The announcement, which is going digital for the first time ever will air on SAY’s Youtube from 7pm, and will be co-hosted by Vic Galloway and Nicola Meighan who will announce the highly anticipated 20 Scottish albums on the Longlist. The broadcast will also feature special performances from SAY Alumni and Glasgow bands Free Love, Kinnaris Quintet and Sacred Paws.

Boasting one of the most lucrative prize funds in the UK, the national award celebrates, promotes and rewards the incredible strength, passion and diversity of Scottish music in 2020. Despite going digital for the first time ever, this year saw a record breaking 362 album submissions which were then whittled down by 100 valued and impartial nominators, who were all asked to vote for their favourite new releases.

Artists with eligible albums this year include the likes of Deacon Blue, Declan Welsh and the Decadent West, Gerry Cinnamon, Lewis Capaldi, Mogwai, The Ninth Wave, Rachel Sermanni, Sacred Paws, Honeyblood, The Snuts, Tide Lines, Twin Atlantic.

Previous winners of The SAY Award include Auntie Flo ‘Radio Highlife’ (2019), Young Fathers ‘Cocoa Sugar’ (2018), Sacred Paws ‘Strike A Match’ (2017), Anna Meredith ‘Varmints’ (2016), Kathryn Joseph ‘Bones You Have Thrown Me And Blood I’ve Spilled’ (2015), Young Fathers ‘Tape Two’ (2014), RM Hubbert ‘Thirteen Lost & Found’ (2013) and the inaugural winner Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat ‘Everything’s Getting Older’ (2012).

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for The SAY Award: Live at the Longlist 2020 are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
