UK Premiere
Keko Chelidze, Georgia, 2020, Georgian with English subtitles, 66m
Filmed predominantly in their claustrophobic one-room apartment, this intimate observational documentary chronicles the turbulent relationship between Levan, a once popular Georgian musician, and his elderly mother Lamara, as they attempt to co-exist.
An engaging and touching film, it draws attention not only to the complexities of family relationships, but also to the intense hardship that artists can face when going through difficult times. As the cumulative impact of poverty, isolation, addiction, and caring takes its toll on his mental health, can Levan overcome years of setbacks and rediscover his potential?
Content notes: alcohol addiction, references to drug use
