A 'DOCMA' is a 5-minute documentary film made by 5 filmmakers in 5 different documentary styles. It’s also a game - designed to get your creative juices flowing! Roles and tasks are determined by lottery, and filmmakers must adhere to a set of rules: The DOCMA Commandments.
Come along to SMHAF 2021's DOCMA Filmmaking Workshop on Zoom where rules will be explained and roles allocated. No prior filmmaking experience necessary, but you will need access to something to shoot and edit on (e.g. a smartphone and laptop).
You will then have two weeks to complete your own bit of documentary magic relating to this year's SMHAF themes: Nature and Normality.
The completed DOCMA films will be screened on Zoom at the end of the festival and will be added to the ever-growing online DOCMA archive. Check it out for inspiration.
