Living Proof: A Climate Story Film Screening

About Living Proof: A Climate Story Film Screening

In the fortnight that Scotland hosts the UN’s Climate Change Conference COP26, the Hippodrome is proud to present ‘Living Proof’ a new film exploring this country’s relationship to the global climate crisis, through film and music.

This film frames Scotland’s history through the lens of the current debate, inviting audiences on a journey to revisit the promises of the past and consider how they relate to our future on this planet - and how things might end.
Curated footage from Scotland’s Moving Image Archive, evocatively tells the interlinked stories of energy, industrialisation, consumerism and the environment. With echoes of ‘From Scotland with Love’ there is no overarching narration… instead, people from the past tell their own stories.

A soundtrack by contemporary Scottish artists Louise Connell, Brownbear and Post Coal Prom Queen traverses time and space alongside Scottish composers Ian Whyte, Frank Spedding and John Maxwell Geddes whose work features in the archive.

Exclusively at the Hippodrome screening, presented in partnership with Forth Environment Link, audiences will be treated to tasters of local produce and prize giveaways. Join us for the film screening, meet the Forth Environment Link team, pick up some tips on reducing food waste and growing your own produce, take home seasonal recipes and take-home treats.

After the screening join us for an audience discussion with a guest panel of individuals seeking and supporting a positive, local response to the Climate Emergency.

‘Living Proof’ is a partnership project between the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive and Film Hub Scotland.
