Level: Beginners and Returning Students
A comprehensive, enjoyable evening class covering all aspects of jewellery making, suitable for both beginners and more experienced students who wish to refine their skills.
The small class size enables each student to work on their own individual project throughout the term, with assistance from highly skilled tutors providing expert one-to-one tuition. The course is structured so that each student will finish the term with a piece or even a collection of jewellery plus samples. Many of the techniques taught can be done at home making the course the perfect kick-start to your jewellery making journey.
All basic jewellery techniques are covered: piercing, soldering and applying texture to the metal. In addition, a selection of more specialised processes such as sand casting, resin and keum-boo are taught throughout this course, as students’ individual interests and project requirements emerge.
The Tutors: Our team of experienced and friendly tutors support makers of all levels and experience. Find out more about them here.
What to bring: Only ideas needed, we’ll provide the rest! All materials and tools are included, with the exception of silver, which can be purchased at cost price at the School. If, after this course, you get totally hooked on jewellery making we have an extensive toolkit you can purchase. Feel free to bring a notebook and pen/pencil to take notes and start drawing up designs!
Please bring along glasses if you need them and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed-toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up and bring a cloth face mask to wear if required.
Since you are with us for a while maybe you would like to wear a professional CSSJ apron to really feel at home! Available to purchase here.
And if you are the type of person who prefers to arm yourself with some knowledge ahead of time then we have prepared a Pinterest page filled information and inspiration just for you!
Refreshments provided.
