Course is in conjunction with Small Works by Frances Ryan, a collage exhibition in Gallery 1 from April 15th till May 27th.
Fascinated by collage and want to delve deeper into it? Come along to our full day course with Frances, also known as Little Pink Dog, and learn all about how to create prepared papers using image transfer and mark making techniques. Then go on to create your collage with your prepared papers!
Using Gelli Plate printing and packing tape transfer methods you will create several prepared papers for use in a mixed media collage. Learn the process of image transfer by monoprinting with a gelli plate and magazine images to magically transfer the images on to paper.
- Find out what papers work best
- The best type of imagery for image transfer
- The best paints to use
- How to image transfer using gelli plates and packing tape.
You will then create your own collage using your papers and image transfers while experimenting with composition, creating texture and atmosphere with found papers and mark making.
The day will play out as follows:
10.30am to 1.00pm – Image transfer using gelli plate printing techniques
1:00pm to 2:00pm - Lunch break with food provided by The Kitchen at 44
2.00pm to 4.30pm – Collage using found and prepared papers and image transfer
The class is suitable for beginners as well as those with experience of collage and monoprinting. All materials will be provided.
