This immersive experience is perfect for beginners and craft enthusiasts alike, offering a unique opportunity to learn a contemporary application of traditional leatherworking techniques in a welcoming and creative environment. You will learn how to choose and cut soft leather and wool felt, techniques for hand-sewing leather and what materials to use, and techniques for assembling and finishing your bag to ensure durability and longevity.
This workshop is suitable for all abilities, whether you are a complete beginner to stitch, or someone who would like to explore techniques and try something new! Guided by Jude at every step of the way, you will be taken step by step through the entire bag-making process, from selecting high-quality materials to stitching your finished piece by hand. By the end of the workshop, you will take home a beautifully handcrafted cross-body bag, in your own curated colour way, and have the skills and knowledge to embark on small leather projects at home.
About Your Tutor:
Working from her home studio, Jude creates individually designed and handcrafted genuine leather and pure wool felt accessories. Each purse, clutch bag and wallet is cut and stitched by hand, with an emphasis on simple practical shapes, exquisite colour combinations and high-quality materials.
Using the landscape from both home and her travels as her colour palette, she sources genuine soft leather hides and pure wool felt in contrasting colours. Jude works entirely by hand – from making patterns, to cutting the leather and stitching each piece together. Her aim is to create simple and functional yet beautiful products, which will last a lifetime.
