Level: Suitable for Beginners
Use our rolling mill, hammers, and punches to create texture and pattern on your sheet of copper before forming it to complete your cuff. We’ll teach you how to measure and size your copper for a perfect fit, and provide top tips for a professional quality finish.
Copper has been used in jewellery for thousands of years, and many people believe it has natural healing or medicinal properties, said to promote wellbeing and balance—making it a meaningful as well as a beautiful material to work with.
Enough copper to experiment on and make your finished bangle is included in the price of your workshop, and you can purchase silver on the day if you’d like to make something extra special. Your tutor can assist you with your choice of material on the day and work out a price based on the current silver prices.
This is a great introductory class for complete beginners, but also a great add-on skill for more experienced jewellers, and a great opportunity to make the most of our extensive tools and equipment. You’ll leave at the end of the day with your completed cuff in either copper or Sterling silver, and the skills and confidence to go on making.
What to bring:
We’ll provide everything you need to make your beautiful cuff, including tools and enough copper to make a chunky cuff as pictured. You have the option to purchase silver at cost price if you’d like to make a silver cuff.
Please bring along glasses if you need them.
Wear appropriate, warm clothing and closed-toe shoes for a studio environment. Why not order yourself a CSSJ apron to make you feel right at home in your workshop?
If you have long hair, please wear it up.
If you are the type of person who prefers to arm yourself with some knowledge ahead of time, then we have prepared a Pinterest page filled with jewellery-making information and roll printing inspiration just for you!
Tea, coffee, and biscuits supplied. If you could bring a lidded cup, that would be great! Bring your own lunch to eat in the studio, or we can advise you of nearby places to eat.
