Join us for a six-week Crochet for Improvers course, perfect for anyone who has mastered the basics and is ready to build confidence, expand their skills, and tackle patterns with ease—one double crochet at a time.
Cynthia will begin with a gentle refresher of essential stitches, using simple combination patterns and colour-change techniques to get you warmed up and inspired. As the weeks progress, you’ll explore a range of new skills, including colourwork through linen stitch, tapestry crochet, and mosaic crochet. You’ll also gain valuable experience in reading and interpreting more complex written patterns and charts. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with greater technical confidence, a stronger understanding of crochet structure, and the enthusiasm to take on more ambitious projects. Cynthia will be there to guide you throughout, helping you develop your own creative flair in a relaxed, colourful, and supportive environment.
This course is ideal for improvers, for students who have previously taken our beginner classes (especially the six-week course), or for anyone who simply wants to enjoy sociable stitching while strengthening their crochet technique.
Outcomes:
Common stitches used in crochet patterns that are designed for effective colour change
How to read a written pattern (we’ll cover mainly UK terminology, but our instructions will include US terminologies so you can read any pattern)
How to read a crochet chart illustration
How to do linen/moss stitch, tapestry crochet and finally mosaic crochet
Included in the cost:
A 5mm crochet hook
Aran yarns in contrasting colours for swatching
Printed pattern and guides required for projects covered on the course
Not included in the cost:
Additional crochet hooks in various sizes you might require for any additional swatching you want to do to explore more stitch options
Yarn and material you might want to use for any additional swatching work
