She’ll guide you to create and design a panel with a subject of your choice, which will be approximately 50-60cm squared or 60-90cmx30-40cm (for rectangles) or 60cm diameter (for circular designs). Alternatively, you could make two smaller pieces – or you could even consider incorporating a mirror into your design. You may also get to create a mosaic on slate if you’d like to and have enough time.
Rhona will help you enhance your design, cutting (of glass, ceramics, tiles, stained glass etc), and application skills. You’ll learn about the materials, substrates, adhesives and grout that are suitable for exterior mosaics plus you’ll practise using different tools to cut mosaics and glass, some of which you may not have used before. This workshop is only suitable for people with prior experience of mosaic or glass cutting – for example, if you’ve attended one of Rhona’s (or another tutor’s) previous workshops previously or you’ve been practising at home.
Included in the course fee will be a 30-minute phone or video call with Rhona in advance of the course where we’ll discuss your design ideas, how to do some advance thinking, and she’ll guide you on what’s possible. She will be then able to bring some tailored things to help you with your design work on the first day.
Don’t hesitate to contact Rhona in advance of booking if you have any queries or wish to discuss your suitability / prior experience levels.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
