"..everyone’s successes are recognised and celebrated within an encouraging and enjoyable environment."

Founded by Heather Shrimpton, Stirling Academy of Dance began as a local branch of the Scottish Academy of Dance in 1984. From these modest beginnings with around 20 pupils, Heather has established both Stirling Academy of Dance and Alloa Ballet Company with a role of over 200 pupils.

Heather is proud that every child is treated as an individual and the ethos of the school is to develop confident students, who can develop their skills within an enjoyable non-threatening environment.

Students are offered the opportunity to train and enter for exams of the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus to the highest levels in classical ballet. Students are also offered the chance to enhance their training with other dance styles: tap, jazz and modern, studying the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance syllabus. Courses with other professional dance schools and teachers are also encouraged.

In addition, Stirling Academy of Dance and Alloa Ballet Company have established excellent links with the macRobert Arts Centre. This provides opportunities for students to broaden and enhance their knowledge by attending workshops with professional dance companies, performing, and watching professional dance shows

All our students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their talents in biennual displays and parent’s days and often take part in galas, concerts, charity events and professional shows.
