Anyone who is a levy-paying member of the Business Improvement District (BID) can nominate themselves or someone else as a Board member in advance of the organisation’s AGM on Monday November 25.
The BID, which sees business owners work together and invest collectively to bring about improvements, aims to strengthen its Board, ensure a diversity of skills and expand representation across business sectors in Stirling.
The organisation is seeking `expressions of interest’ from potential board members who would be an integral part of ensuring effective communication across the BID area and providing strategic direction to Go Forth Stirling.
Go Forth’s Chair Danielle McRorie-Smith said: “This is an exciting time to join the Board of Go Forth Stirling as we plan for 2020 and beyond. We’ve had a successful 2019 including our sponsorship of the Bloody Scotland Festival which enabled us to proactively market Stirling’s shops and restaurants to ticketholders.
“We’ve joined forces with Stirling Council to deliver a Hallowe’en event and the City’s Winter Festival and we have supported businesses in a more practical sense through initiatives like the Shop Front Improvement Scheme and Flood Grant.
“We’re ready to build on the foundations laid in 2019 by delivering a series of events and projects across 2020. Joining the board is an opportunity for traders with a passion for Stirling and a commitment to improving our city centre to help shape the future or our city.”
Go Forth Stirling Project Manager Mags Fenner said: “We’re looking for dynamic and enthusiastic people with vision and ideas who are ready to commit their time and energy to working with Go Forth Stirling to help Stirling prosper.
“We are particularly interested in hearing from business owners working in the health and wellbeing, legal and property sectors as we currently have no representation from those areas within the Board.”
The Board is made up of a maximum of 12 directors drawn from businesses representing a cross section of sectors within the BID area.
The AGM takes place at the Engine Shed in Forthside at 6.30pm on Monday November 25 and all BID members are welcome to attend.
Any nominations for Board members should be made in writing prior to the meeting.
Those wishing to register a nomination can do this via the Go Forth Stirling website or by contacting Ms Fenner.
They can also call into the next monthly Go Forth Stirling Drop-in session for more information.
It takes place on Tuesday November 12 at Made in Stirling from 10am until 3pm.
The Stirling BID represents close to 400 local businesses and is run by Ms Fenner and her team with a key objective of delivering projects and services which improve the area’s trading environment to benefit businesses, shoppers and visitors.
It was set up in September 2017 following a vote among the city’s traders and runs for an initial five-year term.
