STIRLING SCHOOLBOY WINS IPAD IN HALLOWE’EN TRAIL CONTEST
A Cowie schoolboy is celebrating after winning an iPad following the Go Forth Stirling Hallowe’en Trail competition.
Lucas Wilson, 10, was one of scores of youngsters who took part in the contest by tracking down Hallowe’en witches and ghouls featured in shops and cafes across Stirling.
He was presented with an iPad by Go Forth Stirling Projects and Office Administrator Jitka Fleglova after his correctly completed entry was the first to be drawn at random.
Lucas, who attends Riverside Primary School, took part in the Hallowe’en Trail with his mum Heather and two-year-old sister Charlotte.
Mrs Wilson said: “He really enjoyed it and it was great to find a free initiative like this which encourages children to get out and about in the fresh air, take some exercise and connect with the businesses in their local area.
“We made a real day of it and it was nice to visit lots of different shops which we might not always go into.
“Lucas chose a book from Oxfam, we had breakfast at Toast while visiting Forthside, a cake later at The Pend café and then picked up some cheesecakes from Hamilton’s Cheesecakes to take home.
“We’d also never been into Made in Stirling before – it’s a fantastic shop and I’m planning to go back there soon for some Christmas presents.”
She added: “Lucas is over the moon with his iPad – it’s such an amazing prize and we’re so pleased we took part in the Hallowe’en Trail.”
Twelve Stirling businesses, ranging from the Vue Cinema in Forthside to the Albert Halls in Dumbarton Road, were part of the Trail and featured Hallowe’en creatures in their shop windows.
Families could pick up a map and record details of all the spooky symbols they spotted along the way which encouraged shoppers to visit a variety of different retailers around Stirling.
One of the businesses on the Hallowe’en Trail was The Pend Café and Deli in Port Street.
Leanne Wilson, who helps her parents Irene and Geoff Williams run the café, said: “We were delighted to be asked to be part of the Hallowe’en Trail.
“It was lovely to see all the different children come into The Pend and to see how excited they were when they found our witch picture.”
Go Forth Stirling Project Manager Mags Fenner said: “We’re very pleased with the success of our first Hallowe’en Trail which gave families the chance to have some fun and to get out and visit all the amazing shops we have in Stirling.
“The businesses taking part covered the whole of the BID area and they welcomed the chance to be part of a fun initiative and benefit from extra footfall around Stirling.”
Go Forth Stirling runs the city’s Business Improvement District (BID) delivering projects and services aimed at improving the city’s trading environment to benefit businesses, shoppers and visitors.
