WELCOME TO THE HOUSE OF FUN:
BUSY LINE-UP OF VIRTUAL EVENTS FOR COMMUNITY
Bannockburn House Trust is set to host a series of virtual events this month, starting with Doors Open Day this weekend (19-20 September).
Volunteers will deliver digital tours to give visitors a glimpse behind the scenes.
Events Manager for the Trust, Ross Caldwell explained: “Doors Open Day is an important event in our calendar showcasing local heritage to the wider community. We’re determined as ever to take part and this year we’ll be releasing a series of short videos created by our volunteers revealing their favourite parts of Bannockburn House. These will be streamed on our Bannockburn House Facebook page throughout the weekend.”
The community owned project is also taking part in MacMillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on Friday 25 September, from 2-4pm live on Zoom.
Volunteer Manager Amanda Deary said: “We're hosting this year's event in the afternoon to give locals time to collect one of our fabulous cake boxes made by our fantastic baking volunteers. They will be whipping up 50 cake boxes to help us raise funds for this wonderful charity. To secure your cake box, in return for a £5 donation to MacMillan, please email us on signup@bannockburnhouse.scot and we'll confirm your order and how to donate.”
The Trust is also taking part in Sourdough September and has delivered 30 flour and sourdough starter packs to local families, inviting them to share their creations on social media.
Project Support Manager for Bannockburn House, Sheila Taylor has been trying out the kit with her own two children Liam (7) and Chloe (5).
She said: “It’s been messy but good fun, learning how to make our own sourdough bread. Our first loaves didn’t look great, but they were very tasty! More importantly we’re learning about how to bake our own bread and reduce our food miles.”
