Free Jewellery Workshops promote pandemic wellbeing
As Covid-19 restrictions ease across Forth Valley, four local makers have joined forces with Made in Stirling to offer free jewellery making workshops for people living in Stirlingshire.

As Covid-19 restrictions ease across Forth Valley, four local makers have joined forces with Creative Stirling to offer free jewellery making workshops for people living in Stirlingshire.
The sessions, led by professional artists Roberta Pederzoli, Jenna McDonald, Andrea Gardiner and Rachel Davies, will offer locals a chance to try their hand at jewellery making – with children’s activities running in tandem to give parents some much needed ‘me time’.
Jewellery designer Roberta Pederzoli from Quinta Essenza is leading the project: “I’m a great believer in the importance of art as a medium to promote wellbeing. The workshops will give locals an opportunity get creative, relax and connect with other people after the stresses of the past year.
The art of making something is a great way to help us focus on the present moment and forget our worries.”
There will be no charge to participate in any of the sessions thanks to funding from the city’s place partnership, Scene Stirling.
Kevin Harrison of Scene Stirling said: “We’re keen to support inclusive and accessible creative opportunities such as this through our open grants scheme. Stirlingshire has a well-established tradition of jewellery making and silversmithing, and these sessions will offer locals the chance to try it out for themselves.”
Six of the workshops will take place in Made in Stirling, 44 King Street, with a further two in Bannockburn and Fallin. All events will be Covid-19 compliant.
A variety of sessions will be on offer from June to October, from mosaic pedants and paper filigree jewellery to wax carving and polymer jewellery. (One workshop booking per person.)
Meet the artists:
• Roberta Pederzoli from Quinta Essenza designs textured and tactile jewellery. Her jewellery is inspired by natural and organic shapes, in particular by lichens, wood and interesting forms she observes during her walks. In May, Roberta won a Bronze Award in Medal Design by The Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council also known as the ‘Oscars of the Jewellery Industry’.
• Andrea Gardiner is a Jewellery Designer and Maker who creates bespoke jewellery using silver, copper and mixed materials like leather and clay. Each of her designs are inspired by her mixed heritage of Mexican and Scottish portraying Celtic and Aztec themes throughout her work.
• Jenna McDonald is a jewellery designer and workshop tutor, creating contemporary colourful jewellery crafted from anodised aluminium and silver. Graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2009, Jenna went on to work for several large Scottish Jewellery companies as a regional Visual Merchandiser. Jenna regularly hosts jewellery making workshops, teaching others her passion and sharing her skills and knowledge to others.

She loves inspiring others to get creative and regularly teaches mosaic classes, as well as getting involved in various community projects.
