Time is running out to send in your entry for twenty-five words for 2025 - a collective poem being collated by Stirling Makar Laura Fyfe to celebrate Stirling’s rich culture and creative spirit.
The project represents your chance to become a published poet and support Stirling's bid to become UK City of Culture 2025.
Get 2022 off to a creative start by penning your 25 words (sentences, lines and phrases) and uploading them at www.scenestirling.com/twentyfivewords by 5pm on Friday 7th January. Paper entries can also be handed into Central Library c/o Stirling Makar.
Laura will then weave the poetic lines together into one poem which will accompany Stirling's bid submission in early February.
Laura said: “Here’s a chance to create something together, to focus on what we love about this amazing place we live in. I can’t wait to hear from you all, especially those of you who’ve never published a poem before!”
Citizens in need of guidance and inspiration can watch Laura's poetry writing workshop on scenestirling.com, as well as find daily poetry tips on the Stirling Alive with Culture Facebook page.
Laura recommends reading your words our loud to check for any 'jaggy' edges, before sending them in.
She said: "Writing a poem is like cooking spaghetti… you throw words at a wall and see what sticks."
Businesses and individuals can also declare their support by heading to stirling2025.com and adding their name.
