Doune Primary pupils to showcase artwork
Artwork created by Doune Primary School pupils will be displayed across the village, from the local pharmacy to fashion boutiques, as part of a two-week long community art trail this autumn.

Local youngsters have been working with Doune Creative Network to create a series of pieces on the theme of children’s rights, entitled ‘A Child of Their Time’.
The project, which is supported by Scene Stirling, has seen the children collaborate with storyteller Amanda Edmiston and artists Roberta Pederzoli, Peter Yates and Frankie Burr this term.
Amanda said: “It has been fascinating to work with the children and explore what life would have been like for children in Doune throughout the ages.
“Pupils were excited to discover that over two thousand years ago, the cricket pitch behind the school was the site of an ancient Roman hospital.
“Although many things have changed, the children also reflected on what is similar; with the natural environment, castle and river featuring heavily in the artwork they’ve produced with Peter and the metal work they’ve created with Roberta.
“Doune is also known for its mapmaking and artist Frankie Burr has been working with the children to create new artist maps, both imaginary and real, of Doune through the eyes of children 300 years ago and today.”
The community art trail will kick off on Sunday 25 September with a day of creative activities at Doune Rural Hall and Moray Park led by the four artists and Janie Meikle Bland from Stirling Photography Festival.
There will be a host of things to do throughout the day, from metal work and painting workshops to photography and storytelling walks. Artist Frankie Burr will also offer creative mapmaking sessions, marking the final stage of her Lady Grange & Us project with the local community.
