Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts has debuted a series of practitioner retreats that craft an environment for reconnection through outdoor adventure – Adventure Weekends with Marine & Lawn. Kicking things off, Marine Troon - the brand’s address on the west coast of Scotland - will host ‘The Wellness Weekend’ with acclaimed cold-water swimmer, surfer, yoga instructor, and environmental advocate, Sophie Hellyer. The first-of-its-kind retreat unfolds over two weekends in the new year: 31 January - 2 February and 21 - 23 February.
Guided by Hellyer, guests will experience a transformative three-day retreat combining cold-water immersion, yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness. This retreat is designed to boost mental clarity, reduce stress, and connect with nature and new friends alike. The mental and physical health benefits of cold water swimming, including improved circulation and reduced stress, has driven a 94% increase in participation in the practice since 2019. Cold water swimming offers a powerful boost to health, and its benefits are amplified during the winter months as short immersions in cold water have been shown to help strengthen one's immune system.
Marine Troon, an elegant 89-room hotel located in the charming seaside town of Troon on Scotland's Ayrshire Coast, offers unparalleled views of the Firth of Clyde and Isle of Arran. Rooted in Scotland’s rich heritage, the hotel’s design is thoughtfully inspired by the destination's vast golf history and natural beauty. It features a refined coastal decor palette of soft hues and rich, natural textures that echo the surrounding landscape.
Arriving at Marine Troon, retreat guests will be welcomed with nourishing refreshments before taking part in a restorative yoga practice and welcome circle, followed by dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, The Rabbit. During the weekend, guests will be led through invigorating cold water sea dips, warming Vinyasa yoga flows, coastal hikes, restorative breathwork, and movement and self-reflection exercises. Sophie will guide guests through uplifting sequences incorporating movement and breathwork techniques to stimulate and awaken the senses. Alongside the full itinerary, guests will enjoy meals created by the Marine & Lawn chefs using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients.
Throughout the hotel, Marine Troon offers a sanctuary of wellness and relaxation, best highlighted by its comprehensive spa. Guests can indulge in an array of amenities, including an indoor heated pool, a jacuzzi, a squash court, a modern gym, and a nail bar. The serene pool area, lined with floor-to-ceiling windows, provides swimmers with stunning views over the Royal Troon Golf Course and the sparkling sea beyond, creating a truly immersive experience in a setting of natural beauty.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sophie Hellyer to Marine Troon and to offer this exclusive experience as part of our continued dedication of celebrating the unique beauty of Scotland, and curating exceptional experiences for our guests. This experience offers guests an opportunity to reset, rejuvenate, and recharge among the beautiful rugged landscape—and we couldn’t be more excited to have Marine Troon as its home”, says Robin Allan, General Manager of Marine Troon.
“I am really excited to return to Marine Troon for these retreats. The weekend is the perfect balance of wild winter dips and cosy, restorative yoga. Picture a sea swim in the Scottish winter followed by a sauna, a breezy hike and then some candlelit yoga and breathwork - a great weekend to rebalance your nervous system and meet new friends!”, says Sophie Hellyer.
With each retreat being led by an expert in their own field, the remaining ‘Adventure Weekends with Marine & Lawn’ practitioners will be announced throughout 2025.
‘The Wellness Weekend with Sophie Hellyer’ tickets can be purchased online at marineandlawn.com
