The housebuilder is honouring Stirling’s past as it plays a key role in the development of its future.
Persimmon Homes are currently constructing up to 800 energy efficient homes at South Stirling Gateway, with almost 200 to be allocated for affordable housing.
Their sponsorship will help support the finale to Stirling 900 on March 29, which will include a colourful musical procession through the city centre with full details to be announced shortly.
It follows a cultural evening 24 hours earlier at Stirling Castle, when residents, visitors, community groups and other organisations join together to celebrate Stirling’s heritage – and look forward to its exciting future.
Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Gerry McGarvey, said: “Over the last 12 months, Stirling 900 has honoured the rich history of our city, while celebrating the work of our people and communities in helping to promote our positive future.
“Persimmon Homes are a welcome sponsor for the Stirling 900 finale. South Stirling Gateway offers many fine views of Stirling Castle, one of the oldest ‘homes’ in Scotland, and it’s fitting the development site will soon lead to the growth of another vibrant community in our area.”
Neil Parry, Managing Director of Persimmon East Scotland, added: “We are proud to support Stirling 900 and contribute to this historic milestone for the city.
“As we develop our new Brucefields site, we are dedicated to leaving a lasting positive impact, not just through the homes we build but also by supporting the community and celebrating its remarkable history.”
Stirling was awarded Royal Burgh status in 1124 when King David I granted its people permission to elect a Council, hold markets and levy local taxes.
The Stirling 900 celebrations were launched last April with a ceremonial opening of the gates of Stirling Castle ushering in 12 months of events featuring local people, community groups, schools and other organisations.
The sponsorship of the Stirling 900 finale by Persimmon Homes is part of the company’s broader commitment to community engagement, including its Community Champions scheme, which donates over £6,000 every quarter to local charities and organisations across each of its regional businesses.
