Have your say on new active travel project for south of Stirling city centre
People are being encouraged to have their say in the second stage of a consultation on four proposed active travel routes for the south of Stirling city centre.

The high-quality travel corridors would be located on or near sections of Burghmuir Road, the A9 in Bannockburn, St Ninians Road and Glasgow Road, converging at St. Ninians Roundabout.
These routes will form a key part of the region’s future transport system, enabling more people to walk, wheel and cycle. They will enhance connections between communities and the city centre and link to other key travel infrastructure in the city including Walk, Cycle, Live Stirling.
Design and construction of new active travel infrastructure is funded externally through grant funding from the Scottish Government’s active and sustainable travel budget via Transport Scotland.
Residents, community groups and other stakeholders can share their feedback and learn more online about the project, including graphics of how the proposed routes may look on each road, via the Engage Stirling website.
A survey for children and young people also been created on Young Scot website.
Drop-in sessions have also been organised for local residents to find out more about the project. These will take place in Mayfield Community Centre on Saturday 1 November (10am – 1pm) and in Hillpark Community Centre on Thursday 6 November (4pm – 7pm).
All the surveys will close at midnight on Monday 10 November.
The South Stirling project would support the growing shift towards active travel in the region, with recent traffic surveys showing continued growth in people travelling by bike in Stirling and across Scotland. It would also help deliver the wide range of environmental, health and social benefits from increased active travel.
A better sustainable transport network also gives people better access to education, jobs and important services so there are strong economic reasons for rolling out the new infrastructure.
To ensure these proposed routes meet the needs of local communities, it’s important as many people have their say on the project in the surveys on the Engage Stirling website or at the drop-in sessions.
The South Stirling project supports key plans and strategies for the area’s future, notably the Climate and Nature Emergency Plan, and the related Sustainable Mobility Strategy, as well as the new Local Development Plan that is currently in progress.
