A drop-in session is being held on Friday (21 November) for local residents and businesses to learn more about the major redevelopment at Forthside, with a focus on the active travel improvements of this exciting project.
The event will take place at the Engine Shed between 1pm and 3.30pm and will be an opportunity for people to speak to council staff about ongoing and planned work and to look at designs.
Leaflets have been posted to the local community with details of the event and more information about the transformation of this key area of Stirling.
The council is redeveloping the Forthside area after securing a £19 million grant from the UK Government Levelling Up Fund. It is expected to bring significant economic, social and environmental benefits for the local area, Stirling and the wider region.
Through a £3 million allocation from the council’s Levelling Up Fund grant, construction is taking place to deliver new and improved active travel routes. This will improve walking and cycling connections in the area. Some of these enhancements are based on feedback from the local community.
To support local businesses during these works, parking charges at main Forthside car park have now been reduced to £1 for the first hour, £2.50 for 1-4 hours and £4.50 for over 4 hours. Parking remains free between 5pm and 8.45am. These changes will be reviewed once construction is complete.
The remaining £16 million of the Levelling Up Fund grant is enabling the redevelopment of the former MoD land at Forthside, including the refurbishment of existing buildings, with the aim of transforming this site into a dynamic and vibrant location for film, high-end TV production and other creative industries.
All works are due to be completed by April 2026.
Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Susan McGill said: “The major redevelopment of Forthside is hugely exciting. Key infrastructure is being delivered on former military land to enable the creation of Stirling Studios, and work is underway on new and enhanced active travel infrastructure between Forthside, the city centre, Springkerse and surrounding areas as a new vibrant community takes shape.
“We are committed to keeping the local community updated as the major project progresses, which is why we have arranged this drop-in session and contacted local residents and businesses.
“Friday’s event at the Engine Shed is a great opportunity to find out more about the current active travel work taking place in the area and the overall objectives of the project, so please come along for a chat with our staff.”

In March 2024, the former MoD land at Forthside was transferred to Stirling Council through the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal – a £214 million partnership between Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils, the University of Stirling and the UK and Scottish Governments.
