First showcased at Dance International Glasgow (DIG) in 2022 and reimagined at Platform in 2025, the latest iteration of World’s Evolution will open at Cumbernauld Theatre on Saturday 28 February, before touring across Scotland until Thursday 23 April 2026.
Presented by creative and cultural force THREE60 (founded in 2014 by Divine Tasinda, Kemono L.Riot, Adam McMillan and Levent Nyembo to champion Street and African Diasporic dance forms), World’s Evolution is grounded in the deep grooves of African and Caribbean dance, combined with a dynamic fusion of street styles such as Hip-Hop, krump, and poppings.
Through experimental and emotionally charged choreography, World’s Evolution takes audiences on a journey through time. At the heart of this journey is Africa, a shared motherland and the cradle of human life.
Through movement, World’s Evolution travels from the origins of humanity to the complexities of the modern world asking - ‘Can you remember where you come from? Do you know who you are? Do you know where we are going?’
As a performance, World’s Evolution opens a space for audiences to reflect on history, confront present-day challenges, and imagine a freer and more united future. It honours the deep, enduring impact of movement cultures in shaping today’s world, and platforms dance as a powerful vehicle for expression, transformation and connection.
To coincide with the performances, the tour will be presented alongside workshops and engagement classes that aim to further THREE60’s aim of engaging with communities across Scotland.
Supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland, World’s Evolution will open at Cumbernauld Theatre on Saturday 28 February before touring to The Beacon Arts Centre (Greenock), The Lemon Tree (Aberdeen), Theatre Royal (Dumfries), Macrobert Arts Centre (Stirling), The Studio, Capital Theatre (Edinburgh), One Touch Theatre, Eden Court (Inverness) and The Byre Theatre, St Andrews until Thursday 23 April 2026.
Talking about THREE60 and the upcoming tour of World’s Evolution, co-director Divine Tasinda said: ‘World’s Evolution is a Hip-Hop theatre piece that sparks conversation about humanity and creativity. It invites audiences to open their minds, recognising art as one of the most powerful tools we have to inspire change and provoke dialogue.
Rooted in Hip-Hop, the piece brings together playful, multidisciplinary creativity across styles under the umbrella of street dance. It honours black culture and the African origins of street dance styles, celebrating Africa as the motherland and reflecting on the evolution of humanity, society and people.
At its heart, World’s Evolution reminds us that we are all connected. We come from one place, share one root, and exist beyond borders and land. We are reflections of one another. The piece aims to spark curiosity, awaken creativity, and inspire everyone to see themselves within the story.’
