Forth Valley’s food, drink and tourism sector has been firmly in the spotlight following a highly successful Food, Drink and Tourism Business Month 2026, which brought together businesses, partners and future talent from across the region.
The month-long programme, delivered by STEP in conjunction with Forth Valley Food and Drink, Forth Valley College and Scotland Food & Drink, showcased the strength, creativity and collaboration that defines the region’s thriving sector.
A diverse calendar of events throughout March, including industry forums, workshops, networking opportunities and showcase events, provided practical support for businesses while celebrating the people and produce that make Forth Valley unique.
STRONG START WITH INDUSTRY FORUM
The programme opened with a well-attended Food, Drink and Tourism Industry Forum at Stirling Enterprise Park, where businesses heard insights from key partners including the local BID Go Forth, VisitScotland and Scotland Food & Drink.
Discussions focused on the importance of independent businesses, the value of local provenance and future growth opportunities across the sector.
SPOTLIGHT ON FUTURE TALENT
A key highlight of the month was the 11th annual Chefs of the Future event, held at Forth Valley College’s Stirling campus.
Hospitality students demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity as they prepared and served a three-course meal to invited guests and industry representatives. Working in teams, students produced innovative dishes using the same core ingredients, showcasing not only technical ability but teamwork and originality.
The event offered employers valuable opportunities to connect with emerging talent, reinforcing the strong links between education and industry in the region.
Paul Cunningham, Curriculum Manager in Hospitality at Forth Valley College, said: “We are once again thrilled with the success of this event and proud of our students' achievements. The standard of cooking was of a very high standard and it provided a fantastic experience for our students, allowing them to gain valuable feedback from industry professionals and build relationships with local businesses.
“‘Chefs of the Future’ continues to be an important platform for showcasing the talent coming through our hospitality programmes while strengthening links with industry.”
CELEBRATING LOCAL PRODUCERS
The programme concluded with the ever-popular Meet the Producers showcase, bringing together a wide range of local food and drink businesses – from artisan gin and handmade fudge to rope grown seaweed and gluten free bakes. The event highlighted the depth and quality of the region’s produce, while creating opportunities for collaboration, networking and new business connections.

From passionate makers to innovative food and drink entrepreneurs, this month has underlined the depth of quality, ambition and community spirit that defines our local industry.”

Plans are already being considered for 2027, with partners committed to building on this year’s success and continuing to support a vibrant and sustainable future for the region’s food, drink and tourism industries.
