In the morning, Cass will introduce some simple but effective mark making techniques using inks and foraged leaves, resulting in a collection of decorative papers that you will weave into a leather or pleather covered book in the afternoon. Sticking with the nature theme, Cass will teach you a stitched binding method inspired by creeping vines. You can tie the composition of your book together by choosing complimentary threads and materials to make your book to add personal touches.
This fun filled botanical bookbinding workshop is an ideal opportunity for both beginners and keen bookbinders to learn a new range of creative bookbinding techniques. You will leave the workshop with a finished book that makes for a great sketchbook, gardening journal and/or notebook, as well as the skills and confidence to carry on bookbinding at home. After the workshop we will send on links to Cass’s video tutorials to help you on your binding journey. And if you’re hooked on books (you will be) Cass will have kits available to purchase for £12 at the end of the workshop.
All materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring along any of your own decorative papers to include in your book.
Following the workshop you will receive access to video instructions should you wish to make more botanical books at home!
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
