STIRLING JEWELLERY SPECIALISTS BECOME 650TH COMPANY TO JOIN SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT’S BUSINESS PLEDGE
Stirling based personalised jewellery specialists, Lily Blanche, are delighted to be named the 650th company to sign up to the Scottish Government’s Business Pledge, a partnership between government and business aimed at boosting productivity, competitiveness, sustainable employment, and workforce engagement and development.
Founded by Gillian Crawford, Lily Blanche this week (July 16 2019) hosted Jamie Hepburn MSP, Scottish Government Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills, to talk about the Business Pledge and the potential for Ecommerce in Scotland.
The Pledge promotes the best business practice, including a commitment to paying the real Living Wage; promoting workforce engagement and development; business innovation and community involvement with youth engagement and internationalisation.
Gillian, who is a Women’s Enterprise Scotland Ambassador and chair of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs, said: “We are thrilled to be the 650th signatory to the Scottish Government Business Pledge. Our highly talented, multi-lingual team at Lily Blanche have been driving the growth of our ecommerce business. In common with many women’s businesses, social purpose and fair work are at the centre of our strategy and doing business in an ethical manner is important to us and to our customers”.
In addition to watching a locket being made and engraved for First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Mr Hepburn discussed a new ecommerce resource for Scotland. In conjunction with the University of Strathclyde Business School and the ecommerce specialists Indez, Gillian is one of a small team working on establishing a new Institute for Ecommerce for Scotland.
Carolyn Currie, CEO of Women’s Enterprise Scotland said; “WES Ambassador Gillian Crawford has built a unique, award-winning business in Lily Blanche and we are delighted that they have become the 650th company to sign up to the Scottish Government’s Business Pledge. Women-led businesses play a vital role in driving sustainable growth and alongside the considerable commitments of running and growing a business, Gillian commits a huge amount of time to supporting the ecosystem for female entrepreneurs, paying forward the skills and knowledge she has acquired to help more women fulfil their economic potential.”
Business Minister Jamie Hepburn said: “I am delighted to announce Lily Blanche as the 650th business to make a commitment to the Scottish Business Pledge. “The Business Pledge is a values-led partnership between government and business designed to create lasting inclusive, economic success. Our ambition is to build sustainable growth that also achieves fairness, equality, opportunity and innovation. “Scotland relies on progressive, sustainable businesses built on strong core values. As a female led business, actively contributing to the Women’s Enterprise Framework, Lily Blanche are a shining example to many female entrepreneurs.”
