TOLBOOTH CAFÉ CONCERTS 1:30-2PM & 2.30-3PM
23rd December - Liv Dawn
Liv Dawn is a folk-pop singer-songwriter from Loch Lomond. Much like storytelling, Liv crafts compelling tales relating to everyday life and relationships. Liv also enjoys sharing a variety of cover songs from all eras and genres.
30th December - Beluga Lagoon
Founded by Scottish wildlife cameraman, Andrew O’Donnell, Beluga Lagoon is a production company and musical project.
Specializing in natural history/adventure films for broadcast and streaming, all music heard in our projects has been written and performed by ourselves.
20th January - Katie Macfarlane
Katie Macfarlane, a Gaelic singer from Airdrie, has been drawn to traditional music her entire life, and her passion for the genre shines through in her performances. She has been recognized as a semi-finalist in both BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician and BBC Radio 2’s Young Folk Award competitions, and her debut album – An Nighean Sheunta / The Enchanted Girl – showcases her unique blend of Gaelic and Catalan styles, adopted from her ancestral connections to the Outer Hebrides and time spent studying in Barcelona.
27th January - Grayling
Hailing from a wee house in Bonhill, Scotland where the sounds of Queen, Carole King and Billy Joel reverberated through the walls…
Grayling grew up in a musical family however – shied away from performing and stepping into her own light until later in life. Busking on the banks of Loch Lomond saw the start of her full time music career.
Her time is now spent writing in her flat in Glasgow, leading songwriting workshops and gigging with friends and bandmates around Scotland.
3rd February - Mairearad Green
Having grown up in the West Coast Coigach peninsula of the Scottish Highlands – an area steeped in culture and local traditions – I am a musician and visual artist based in the Highland village of Ullapool. My impressionistic painting style is very much a visceral response to the land that I grew up in and my composition combined showcases a deep-rooted sense of place. I play the accordion, Highland pipes, small pipes, and sing and my live set includes music from my solo albums, Passing Places, Summer Isles and Hearth.
10th February - Adam Stafford
Adam Stafford is a musician and short film director from Falkirk, Central Scotland.
Stafford is known for his intense live performances which incorporate soul-pop, post-punk avant-garde and a capela experimentalism to dizzying effect.
17th February - Bedgee
Budgee is the duo of Canadian-born, Glasgow-based, songwriter Celine Brooks and Scottish musician Gareth Dickson (guitarist in Vashti Bunyan’s touring setup for well over a decade, and a mainstay of Taylor Deupree’s ambient label 12k). Their collaboration merges ethereal guitar soundscapes with alt-folk arrangements in a blend that is both rhythmically driven and deeply atmospheric. Their debut EP Pell-Mell was released in October 2023.
24th February - Ross Fairweather
2th March - Rae Lena
Rae Lena can best be described as haunted folk, using repetitive looping chords and soaring vocals to weave stories around the depth of our emotions. A self-taught pianist, Rae interprets music with less method and more of a need to make noise and express. With raw vulnerability, Rae’s open and exposing style aims to leave the listener feeling heard and connected to their own experiences.
9th March - Janice Burns & Jon Doran
Janice Burns & Jon Doran are an award-winning Anglo-Scottish duo who came together after discovering a shared love of traditional music. Their songs tell vivid stories about the nature of life and our place in the world.
16th March - Jennifer Austin
Enigmatic Orcadian Jennifer Austin is a renowned and respected pianist and emerging visual artist. With unrivalled mastery, she casts the black and white of piano keys into the full spectrum of light, illuminating the human experience and dazzling, enchanting and visibly elevating her audience.
23rd March - Lovers Turn to Monsters
Lovers Turn to Monsters is the on-going musical project of Glasgow based musician Kyle Wood. Lttm has appeared in many different forms over the passed decade but in it’s purest form is one man and a guitar tackling life’s toughest subjects with dark humour, cutting lyrics and arguably too much stage banter. Influenced by the lyrical sensibilities of 70s songwriters like Loudon Wainwright, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson and Warren Zevon Lovers Turn to Monsters reframes his words with influences from his beloved 90s lo-fi scene, and modern emo.
30th March - Raveloe
Raveloe, the project of Glasgow songwriter Kim Grant who found her moniker within the pages of George Eliot’s Silas Marner. Grant identifies with the idea of being a weaver (which the character Silas Marner is) of words and music and the concept of creating worlds to tell stories within, so the name Raveloe stuck with her. Being inspired by magical-realism, folk and indie rock, Grant’s music is a fusion of sounds filled with rich images exploring themes of temporality, duality, nature, loss and love. Growing up in the industrial town of Motherwell and now living in Glasgow the juxtaposition of urban life and the natural environment are entwined in the songs as is the magic and the mundane.
