The Royal Company of Archers functions as the Sovereign’s ‘Body Guard in Scotland’.
At the request of HM The Queen, it performs duties at State and ceremonial occasions in Scotland. Its members must be Scots or have strong Scottish connections. As Secretary of the Archers, Colonel Charlie Wallace is ideally placed to explain the Royal Company’s role and its history, as it celebrates its bicentennial year as the Sovereign’s Body Guard for Scotland in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.
Colonel Charles Wallace is Secretary of the Royal Company of Archers. His 35 years’ Army service included active service in Iraq and Afghanistan, with the UN in the Former Yugoslavia, and in Northern Ireland during Operation Banner.
