Tree Medicine Across the Seasons (Cardross Estate, Stirlingshire)
Join outdoor educator and naturalist Lauren Lochrie of Herbal Homestead, on a unique course based at the beautiful Cardross Estate, Stirlingshire. Participants can expect to be led on an immersive, arboreal journey to explore a handful of native trees and their uses across the seasons - to ensure this, numbers will be limited to 6 places only.
Lauren has developed a rage of activities and pauses, a balance of observations, conversations, group and solo work, as well as hands-on harvests and making; something for everyone to enjoy. Compost loos on site at the Beewell Demonstration Garden, including a workshop bothy, fire pit, veggie plot, apiary, wildlife pond & bog garden, forest garden, wild hedgerows, forest and more - all available for appropriate harvests & remedy making activities.
The best way to really get to know any tree is to observe and work with it as it changes throughout the year, and by making room for deeper insights, you will simply start to see the forest in a new way. As we slow down to connect with seasonal rhythms and abundances, we too can learn to find a better rhythm within ourselves, appreciating what may have been overlooked before.
Depending on the time of year and tree focus, participants will learn about and prepare different remedies, crafts, and food stuffs from sap, leaves, catkins, roots, twigs, flowers, berries, bark, cones and associated fungi.
Our Winter Course Focus is with the majestic Scot's pine tree (Pinus sylvestris).
This course can be attended as a one-off or as an internship over the seasons (booking on to the Spring, Summer, & Autumn courses too). Throughout the year we will take different routes around the estate and more information will be sent out before each course.
What To Expect From These Courses:
