A half day of guided foraging with wild food and drink samples - £45 per person
This guided session will improve your connection with wilder places by introducing and developing the skills needed to forage for edible and medicinal plants and fungi - helping you to recognise and fully appreciate the deliciousness of wild abundance.
Foraging and Folklore events include:
- Guidance to develop your plant and fungi ID skills
- Advice to spark your creativity and confidence to use wild ingredients for delicious recipes and traditional remedies at home.
- Tales from folklore to help to secure plants and mushrooms firmly in your imagination
- Samples of wild food and foraged treats to engage all of your senses for maximum recall of each wild wonder!
- Guidance on books, kit and other resources to develop your foraging skills
To protect these wilder places, and because plants are unpredictable, I don't publish specific meeting locations until a week before each foraging walk. We will meet at a secret location within Mugdock Country Park. All meeting locations have access to parking nearby. If you have mobility or access concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me: emma@curious-in-nature.com so I can ensure your needs are met.
We walk at a gentle pace, stopping to notice and examine the plants and fungi that we find. The session includes a break roughly half-way through to relax and recap over a cup of wild herbal tea or cordial. At the end of the session we will go over our finds and discuss further reading and alternative sources of information.
Secret, specific, locations are revealed via email 7 days before your booking date. Please keep an eye out for a message confirming the specific location and meeting instructions 7 days before the event, or shortly after booking if the event is less than a week away.
With regret, dogs cannot be accommodated on these walks. Dogs can join private bookings, if you can get a group together, this can be a good option for dog owners. Please contact emma@curious-in-nature.com for more information.
Children 12 and over are welcome. Younger children may struggle with the pace and content, so this event isn't recommend for kids aged 11 and under.
If you have a younger child who is really keen on foraging and you're sure that they are able to engage with an adult group for 4.5 hours and make sensible, safe decisions about plant and mushroom edibility, please feel free to book.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
