Join me for a 90min Immersive Yin Yoga session to explore the Wood element of spring.
Yin Yoga allows space to cultivate attention; physically we explore deeper stretching and hold poses for extended periods with the support of props to target the Yin tissues of the body (deep connective tissues= ligaments, joints, bones) and cultivate that attention to the sensations that arise. We establish the edge of our range of movement, and we learn to find stillness in the poses that can support us find stillness in the mind too.
In day-to-day life, we are compelled by stronger/faster activities (Yang element), so bringing a Yin aspect to our Yoga practice can bring balance and equilibrium.
Yin Yoga can become meditative and gives an opportunity to practise mindfulness remaining in a pose for a few minutes while enjoying the physical benefits of increased flexibility and joint mobility.
Always keeping things true to Seasonal Yoga philosophy, this is going to be a Spring practice.
This is not a Restorative practice, so if you are currently dealing with an acute injury (e.g. joint) or you are in the immediate post-partum period, it might not be suitable for you just now - happy to discuss and answer any questions if you are unsure.
