Tuesdays evenings from 16th September - 25th November 2025
Defeat procrastination and feel more inspired, confident and motivated. These workshops are suitable for writers of all levels of experience, from those wondering where to begin, to those with more experience in search of inspiration and support.
Our workshops are relaxed and fun, and to help you tap into your creative potential, your tutor will also gently encourage you to reach beyond your comfort zones so you can become more adventurous with your writing.
You’ll generate new work, open to fresh possibilities, and perhaps work towards completing larger projects. You may be specifically interested in writing memoir, short stories, non-fiction, novels or poetry – or you might just be completely open to seeing what happens!
Whatever your reason for joining us, the writing exercises and feedback you receive will ignite your imagination and support you along your writing journey.
Your workshops will be facilitated by Stirling Makar, award-winning writer and writing mentor, Laura Fyfe. She has tutored creative writing courses for over twenty years, independently and in collaboration with groups and organisations across Scotland, including the Scottish Association of Writers and The University of Stirling. Laura has edited several anthologies and adjudicated a wide range of local and national writing competitions. Her poetry and short stories have been published in acclaimed literary magazines, she has published 3 poetry collections and two non-fiction books and has several novels in development. As a former Director of the Scottish Writers’ Centre and board member of the Scottish Poetry Library, Laura has intimate knowledge and experience of the writing community and industry in Scotland. Her calm, warm approach ensures a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, suitable for even the most nervous of aspiring writers.
