Ciro’s Italian Restaurant was located on the Main Street of Callander until last year when a terrible fire broke out. The Restaurant and the flats above were severely damaged when the fire took hold back in May 2017. The roof collapsed on the top floor flat and the restaurant suffered smoke and water damage.
Families living in the properties were forced out of their homes and several lost all of their possessions including Nikki and Ciro. They were offered a chance to run the on-site Restaurant at Loch Tay Highland Lodges, which is a thriving family holiday park 3 miles from Killin and is one of four parks owned by the family business Largo Leisure Holidays.
It has been a rollercoaster few years for Ciro Cirillo and his wife Nikki Cirillo who were there with their team to collect the award:

The very best of Scotland’s Italian Food industry was showcased in the glitzy award ceremony at Glasgow’s Doubletree Hilton on November the 11th 2018.
Thousands of public nominations were received across the different categories including Best Family Owned Restaurant. Thousands of votes were received in support of favourites across the country to create a shortlist of finalists. Each business was asked to take stock of their business and a Judge visited each venue to sample their fare before the winners were announced.
