On Sunday the 16th February a cast and crew of nearly 200 people will take to the stage of the Macrobert Arts Centre to attempt to smash the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for Fastest Theatrical Production.
Of all the crazy plans Pamela and the team at Rubber Chicken Theatre have had over the last 15 years of supporting performing arts in Dunblane this one is certainly up there. The current record stands at 14hours 30 mins and we’re aiming to take a massive 2 and a half hours off it - just 12 hours from opening a box of scripts for a show we haven’t picked and have no idea what it is, to curtain up in a full house at the MacRobert with a full scale show including band, costumes, set, tech, lights etc. - all of which must also be prepped completely within the timescale.
The chance to participate in an experience like this is a once in a lifetime chance for everyone involved - the excitement amongst our little performing arts family is huge already. With performers as young as 8 through to retirees and beyond and a massive team of support crew it really is a huge community effort. We even have an adjudicator from Guinness World Records to hopefully confirm our successful attempt at the end of the show.
Having tackled shows such as Les Mis, Sweeney Todd and just last Summer had an actual flying car with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang the Rubber Chicken family are no strangers to a challenge, but this is most definitely the biggest yet!
