Stirling traders have come up with a range of initiatives to ensure they remain `Open for Business’ during the Covid-19 crisis.
Businesses have adapted by moving their products online while many food and drink retailers have launched delivery services so they can continue to serve customers.
Go Forth Stirling, which runs the city’s Business Improvement District, has launched a comprehensive online directory to support city traders - www.goforthstirling.co.uk/open-for-business
The `Open for Business’ directory highlights which businesses remain open - either physically or virtually – as well as providing details of what services each is offering, how to access them and information on opening days and times.
Go Forth Stirling Project Director Danielle McRorie-Smith said: “We’ve been impressed by how agile many of our traders have shown themselves to be and how well they have adapted their businesses so they can continue to trade despite the current crisis.
“We’ve set up our online directory as a means of supporting them and hope customers will continue to buy and order from the fantastic range of independent and national retailers we are lucky to have here in Stirling.
“If any more businesses want to add their details to the directory or tell us more about the ways they’ve adapted in the wake of the pandemic please get in touch.”
The `Open for Business’ directory features local Food & Drink retailers such as The Smith Café which is offering a `Smith Café Experience’ to enjoy at home featuring the delivery of Afternoon Teas and boxes filled with sweet treats.
Vera Artisan Bakery is also offering a home delivery service, via an online shop, which includes sourdough breads, ciabattas, delicious pastries and eggs.
Stirling restaurants, such as Mediterreana, Il Vicolo and Friars Wynd Bistro, have launched delivery services while the city’s popular Indian eateries, including Green Gates, Mint Leaf and Spice Garden, continue to offer delivery and takeaway food.
A variety of shops – including Made in Stirling, Clan Kilts, Ian Gallacher jewellers, Contempo and Tinkerbells Emporium - are ready to take online orders while others such as The Hemp Room Café are carrying out phone consultations and posting products to customers.
Some Stirling businesses have introduced innovative virtual initiatives with The Scottish Gantry offering online whisky tastings and quiz nights while The Yoga Tree has set up virtual classes designed to ease tension in the lower back, neck and shoulders.
The city’s hairdressing salons are offering customers the chance to buy products via their websites while the team at Stirling Gin Distillery has produced a hand sanitiser which can be ordered online.
A number of independent shops are still open for the public to visit in person - including Archie’s Pet Shop, Alexander Gray Butchers, Hugh Black & Sons Butchers and Velocity 44 - as well as several larger stores such as Iceland, Boots, Poundland and Superdrug.
Details of their opening times can be found on the Go Forth website and any business owners who want to add their details to the `Open for Business’ online directory should email admin@goforthstirling.co.uk with the information they want to be included.
The team at Go Forth Stirling is also offering a range of free online training courses for Stirling’s business community during the Covid-19 crisis.
Details of all the courses, which are running between now and the end of September, can be found via the link - www.goforthstirling.co.uk/business-support
Go Forth Stirling Business Improvement District (BID) represents close to 400 local businesses with a key objective of delivering projects and services which improve the area’s trading environment to benefit businesses, shoppers and visitors.
The BID was set up in September 2017 following a vote among the city’s traders and runs for an initial five-year term.
