Youngsters have the chance to track down summer symbols in shops and restaurants across Stirling over the next few weeks as part of a fun competition.
Go Forth Stirling Business Improvement District (BID) has launched a `Summer in Stirling’ Trail with a range of prizes on offer for winners.
Twelve Stirling businesses, ranging from The Portcullis pub near Stirling Castle to Nawab Indian restaurant in Upper Craigs, are taking part in the Trail and will feature balloon posters with summer symbols in their shop windows.
Families can pick up a map of the `Summer in Stirling’ Trail from the Thistles or the Made in Stirling store in King Street or download one from the Go Forth Stirling website - https://www.goforthstirling.co.uk/summer-in-stirling
They then follow the Trail round the city and draw the symbols they spot at participating retailers inside a numbered balloon on the map.
The initiative, which runs until Tuesday August 31, aims to encourage people to visit a variety of different shops around Stirling and enjoy some summer fun.
Texy Vera, who runs Vera Artisan Bakery in Barnton Street, is one of the retailers taking part in the Summer Trail.
She said: “The Summer trail is an amazing idea which will help people discover the great range of food and drink businesses we have in Stirling.
“We are glad to collaborate with this project and are looking forward to welcoming back locals and visitors to enjoy our freshly baked food.”
Go Forth Stirling Project Director Danielle McRorie-Smith said: “Our ‘Summer in Stirling’ Trail offers families some fun following a difficult year of lockdowns and restrictions.
“It also gives them the chance to get out and visit all the amazing shops, cafes and restaurants we have in Stirling during the school holidays.
“The businesses taking part cover the whole of the BID zone and the Trail provides an opportunity for them to be part of a fun initiative and benefit from extra footfall around Stirling.”
Once completed, the Summer Trail maps can be returned to Made in Stirling or participants can take a photo and email them to admin@goforthstirling.co.uk
Five competition winners, who will be drawn at random from all correctly completed entries, will receive a prize from Stirling businesses.
Go Forth Stirling BID was set up in 2017 and currently represents more than 600 local businesses with a key objective of delivering projects and services which improve Stirling’s trading environment to benefit businesses, shoppers and visitors.
The company will go to ballot next Spring in the hope of securing a further five-year term.
A successful renewal ballot will allow the BID to continue delivering initiatives for Stirling’s business community and fund current projects such as Street Stories; the Independent Stirling campaign; the delivery of free online training courses plus the provision of digital and shopfront improvement grants.
