Stirling BID sponsors Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award
Scotland’s national music prize - The Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award – is returning to Stirling this October with artists urged to present their entries now.

Stirling’s BID, Go Forth Stirling, is one of the Award sponsors and is encouraging the area’s talented musicians to submit eligible albums before the deadline next Friday.
The Go Forth team are also urging Stirling’s business communities to join them in supporting the competition as it shines a welcome spotlight on the city for the second year running.
The SAY Award takes place at Stirling’s Albert Halls where the artist with the winning album will collect a cash prize alongside the coveted title.
Artists, labels and music fans should submit eligible albums now – via www.sayaward.com – before submissions close at midnight on Friday July 31.
To be considered for the SAY Award 2023, albums must have been released between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023.
Danielle McRorie-Smith, Project Director at Go Forth Stirling, said: “We’re delighted to see the SAY Awards return to Stirling and are proud to be supporting and sponsoring the annual competition again.
“Last year’s event was an enormous success which shone the spotlight on Stirling as a first-class events location and we’d love to see our business community get involved in supporting the awards and welcoming visitors once again.
“This is an excellent opportunity for us to highlight all the wonderful independent hospitality and retail businesses we have here in Stirling as fans descend on the city to celebrate the best of Scottish music.”
The event takes place on Thursday October 22 and will see 2022 winner Fergus McCreadie, the first jazz/trad artist to collect the prize, perform at the Albert Halls.
The SAY Award winner will receive a £20,000 prize whilst nine runners up will each receive £1,000 in addition to bespoke prizes created by a Stirling-based artist through The SAY Award Design Commission.
Additional awards, including Modern Scottish Classic and the Sound of Young Scotland, will also be distributed on the night.
The awards are organised by the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA) - a not-for-profit trade body and membership organisation which exists to strengthen, empower and unite Scotland’s music industry.
They are delivered in partnership with a range of organisations including Go Forth Stirling Business Improvement District (BID) which represents more than 600 business owners with a key objective of increasing visitors to the city and devising initiatives to help make it a more welcoming environment for businesses and shoppers.
