Our creative maths workshops return, as Creative Stirling host “Taking Shape”; an exhibition and workshop series held in memory of mathmatical genius George Connell from @shapewithadifference.
Following an open call to local teachers and maths enthusiasts to support the project, our creative workshops being delivered as part of ‘Taking Shape’ will incorporate George’s developed work and teaching methods for local families to come along and enjoy. In addition to our local teachers and volunteers, Creative Stirling’s Community Development Officer, Sam Green, will support the delivery of workshops alongside George’s daughter Lesley and grandson Ben.
Workshops and activities are FREE, FUN and available to kids of all ages, with families welcome to join in too. Each workshop will be tailored depending on the group of attendees’ and will allow you to experience multiple different math, geometry and problem solving activities in a visual and creative way. George made fractions, tangrams, puzzles and shapes so much fun, and we want to continue his legacy.
Our first selection of workshop dates are as follows:
Monday 11th October 11:00-12:00
Wednesday 13th October 11:00-12:00
Wednesday 13th October 13:00-14:00
Thursday 14th October 11:00-12:00
Children aged 5+ are welcome to attend without parent/guardian. Anyone under 5 must have parent/guardian supervision.
To allow Creative Stirling to safely monitor class numbers individuals and groups will need to book online for any of the activities.
Funded by Maths Week Scotland
