The 11th of September is a significant date in the history of Sir William Wallace and The National Wallace Monument. It was on this date in 1297 that Wallace led the Scots to victory at The Battle of Stirling Bridge, and 572 years later in 1869 that the 220-ft Monument built to commemorate him opened its doors.
To commemorate both anniversaries, join us at the Monument on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September 2022 as we celebrate with axe throwing, archery, and actor performances of ‘Scotland’s National Hero’ each day.
Ticket Information:
We suggest booking your admission ticket to visit the Monument online in advance to secure your preferred entry time slot. It’s expected to be a busy weekend!
Participation in axe throwing and archery are both included in the admission ticket price. You will be required to show your ticket to a member of staff before taking part in these activities.
Visitors can also purchase admission tickets to visit the Monument from the reception desk located inside the tower on the day. (They are not available to purchase from the café located at the Car Park level).
Event Information:
The Monument is open to visitors from 9:30am until 5:00pm. The last recommended admission is 45 minutes prior to closing.
Axe throwing and archery will be on both days from 11:00am until 4:00pm.
Actor performances are on both days at 11:30am, 12:15pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 2:45pm, 3:30pm, and 4:15pm. The presentations take place on the terrace outside the Monument.
The scheduled dates and times of all events are subject to change for operational reasons, or in the event of inclement weather.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
