11 week Wednesday course: 6th September - 29th November
Quilting is a wonderfully therapeutic past time that encourages playfulness with colour, shape and stitch. You’ll be be given the choice to work from a pre-existing quilting pattern or develop one of your own, and you’ll leave with your very own double bed sized quilt. We’ll work at a manageable pace through the process of making a quilt, starting with colour choices and pattern layout, right through to the layering, binding and finally hand-finishing.
As always we’ll approach this project with with sustainability in mind, and we’ll look at the potential for re-use of your favourite textiles, and learn about zero-waste approaches to sewing. It’s the perfect way to is the perfect way to use up all those odds and ends of fabric, or to upcycle old clothes into a meaningful heirloom textile.
This is a ‘Beyond Beginners’ level sewing course. No previous quilting or patchwork experience is required, but you do need to know how to use a sewing machine. Email us if you would like to arrange an introductory session ahead of the course. You could also take our ‘Introduction to Quilt Making‘ weekend course to get a head start on the basic design and construction techniques and make the most of your time in class.
