Titanium can be a fantastic addition to any jeweller’s repertoire because of its ability to take on beautiful, iridescent colours. It is however a challenging material to work with as it is incredibly tough and cannot be soldered using traditional methods. During this workshop, students will be taught how to work with titanium including saw piercing and making cold connections such as rivet joints.
Students will have the opportunity to work with both sheet metal and wire to produce a number of samples before completing a simple finished project such as a pendant or pair of earrings. The finished piece will be heat-coloured to give it a brightly coloured, oxide layer that is completely stable. This workshop is suitable for more experienced students who wish to learn a new technique to bring colour into their jewellery projects. All tools and materials are provided with the exception of silver which can be purchased at cost price from the School.
10am – 4.30pm with a break for lunch. Please bring along glasses if you need them and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up. Lunch is not provided but you are welcome to bring a lunch to eat in the studio or we can recommend places nearby where you can buy a lunch.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
