This Wild Adventure improves our connection with wilder places by introducing and developing the skills needed to forage for edible and medicinal plants and fungi - helping you to recognise and fully appreciate the deliciousness of wild abundance.
Foraging and Folklore events include:
- Guidance to develop your plant and fungi ID skills
- Advice to spark your creativity and confidence to use wild ingredients for delicious recipes and traditional remedies at home.
- Tales from folklore to help to secure plants and mushrooms firmly in your imagination
- Samples of wild food and foraged treats to engage all of your senses for maximum recall of each wild wonder!
- Refreshing wild herbal tea or wild cordial
- Guidance on books, kit and other resources to develop your foraging skills
We walk at a gentle pace, like curious snails, stopping to notice and examine the plants and fungi that we find. The session includes a break roughly half-way through to relax and recap over a cup of wild herbal tea or cordial. At the end of the session we will go over our finds and discuss further reading and alternative sources of information.

LOCATION - Getting to Cashel Forest isn’t complicated. It is located at Cashel Farm, G63 0AW - if using SatNav it is best to search for Cashel Farm - the post code will take you too far along the road.
In a car: Cashel Forest is a 10 minute drive north from Balmaha on the road to Rowardennan. When travelling from Balmaha, the entrance is on the right hand side of the road. Look out for the brown 'heritage' signs to Cashel Native Forest Centre and the dry stone walls by the entrance which bear the words: 'Welcome Cashel' painted in white.
If you’d rather walk, the West Highland Way runs right past Cashel's front gate. It takes approx 2 hours to walk via the West Highland Way from Balmaha, or about 1 hour from Milarrochy bay. The West Highland Way is marked by white thistle posts at regular intervals.
Parking at Cashel is included in the price of your ticket, there is a drinking water tap and accessible toilets on site as well as covered areas which we can use in case of poor weather.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
