Unleash your creativity in this full-day Gelli Plate Printmaking Workshop with local artist Frances Ryan! This workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike and will introduce you to the fascinating world of mono-printing using gel plates. You will discover techniques in mono-printing, learning how to layer colors and textures effectively. You’ll explore various methods for creating with stencils, including cut and torn options, to enhance your prints. Additionally, you will incorporate everyday found objects into your artwork for unique textures and images, and learn image transfer methods to bring photographic images from magazines into your prints.
Understanding which papers and paints work best for your projects will be a key focus, ensuring that you can continue your printing journey at home after the workshop. By the end of the day, you’ll walk away with a collection of experimental papers ideal for bookbinding, card making, or collage, along with a variety of beautiful, unique prints perfect for framing or gifting. This workshop perfectly complements our programme of bookbinding workshops, join us for bookbinding on the last Tuesday of every month and integrate your Gelli prints into future bookbinding projects.
We provide access to a wide range of materials, textures, and objects for your use throughout the workshop. You are also invited to bring your own collection of found objects, papers, and magazines for a personalized touch that inspires your creativity.
