University of Stirling Art & Design Honours Degree Show 2023

About University of Stirling Art & Design Honours Degree Show 2023

This exhibition showcases the work of University of Stirling & Forth Valley College Art & Design Honours students. The work ranges from painting, sculpture, pinhole photography, film and bookmaking to graphic design.

The show explores a diverse and eclectic range of themes. Anna Wood explores the paranormal and forgotten histories through painting, while Niamh McFarlane extends her exploration of abstraction in painting. Through self-portraiture, Emily Christie Gilfoyle has created an alter ego to explore our relationship to self and landscape, and Connor Halligan confronts mental health combining the aesthetics of street art and traditional painting. Lauren Tierney’s playful and curious sculptures attempt to defy gravity through experiments with magnetic fields. Silas Rae develops a strong graphic design brand based on cosmic themes.

Photographer Alina Wojciechowska revists George Orwell’s 1984 to experiment with pinhole photography, while Monika Libner invites us to explore the people behind Viking re-enactments. Drawing on personal experiences, photographer Shiona MacArthur explores grief in a quiet and meditative way through her photography, while Beverley McNeil creates an experimental film which traces the process of healing from domestic abuse.

University of Stirling, Forth Valley College and Made in Stirling are thrilled to work in partnership to platform this work for public exhibition. Join us in celebrating the vital work being produced by some of Stirling’s most promising up and coming artists and designers.
