Dates: Wednesdays 29th October - 3rd December
Join us for a 6-week crochet for beginners course, aimed at beginners looking to learn the art Crochet with Cynthia, one chain at a time. We’ll start at the very beginning, learning how to select the best material for your project before we pick up a hook, cast on, and start crocheting away. Over the course of the 6 weeks, you’ll learn the how to start a project, different crochet stitches with varying levels of difficulties as we progress, how to read a crochet pattern (words and diagram) and hopefully you will complete the workshops with a new found sense of confidence when it comes to hooking your next project. Cynthia will guide you every step of the way, allowing you to unleash your creativity in colourful crochet. This class is suitable for complete beginners, or for anyone who wants to join us for some sociable stitching and improve their crochet technique in a supportive group environment.
On week 2, we will use flat crochet technique to start a beanie hat project, and on week 4, we will begin a second, bigger project with your choice of stitch pattern to make a bag, combining flat crochet and crochet in the round, with all instructions provided.
Outcomes:
How to hold your hook and material
How to start a project by learning the different cast-on methods
Common stitches used in crochet patterns
How to read a written pattern (we’ll cover UK and US terminology so you can read any pattern)
How to read a crochet chart illustration
How to combine your stitches into a project
Different ways to finish your crochet projects with sewing, seaming and edging
Included in the cost:
Your first 12mm crochet hook
Your first 2 balls of Super Chunky yarn for your hat
Printed pattern and guides required for projects covered on the course
Not included in the cost:
Additional crochet hooks in various sizes you might require for the second project
Yarn and material required for the second project (there is a huge selection of donated yarn available at the craft school that you are welcome to rummage in)
